NATO Urges Political Process in Libya

Beijing (Xinhuanet): NATO’s Secretary General is dismissing concerns the alliance will split over the allied bombing campaign. He says the UN resolution authorized NATO to take “all necessary measures” to protect civilians. He stresses a political process, in conjunction with the organization’s military campaign, is necessary to end the conflict in Libya.

He said, “In order to find a long-term sustainable solution to the conflict in Libya we need a political process and I would urge all parties involved to seek such political solutions sooner rather than later.”
