Obama Reaffirms Commitment to Israel’s Security

Washington (Xinhua): U.S. President Barack Obama on March 25 called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reaffirmed the United States’ “unwavering commitment” to Israel’s security.

The White House said that Obama offered his condolences over the “terrorist attack” in Jerusalem on Wednesday, which killed one and wounded over 30 others as a bomb exploded at a busy bus station, in the first bomb attack in the city for the past four years.

Obama also expressed his concern about the recent rocket and mortar attacks against Israel from Gaza, the White House said, adding that the president “reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering commitment to Israel’s security.”

Netanyahu expressed his appreciation for the call and said that Israel would continue to update the United States on the investigation into the attack, the White House said, noting that the two leaders agreed to remain in close touch on a range of regional security issues.
