Ramdev’s Fast Enters 6th Day; Health Starts Deteriorating

BeyondHeadlines Special Correspondent

Haridwar (Uttarakhand): The hunger strike of yoga guru Baba Ramdev has entered its sixth day resulting in the deterioration of his health. Doctors attending him have advised liquid intake and requested him to end his fast soon. The yoga guru has been on fast to press for his demand for bringing bringing back black money from foreign countries, making tougher anti-graft laws and completely uprooting corruption from the country.

During a media briefing today at the holy city of Haridwar in Indian state of Uttarakhand, Chief Medical Officer Dr Yogesh Sharma said: “His health is deteriorating. He has lost weight and is suffering from dehydration. He has been kept on regular medical examinations.”

The doctor said that they had requested Ramdev to take liquid in the form of juices or milk.  “It will be better if he ends his fast,” Sharma said.

The yoga guru, along with hundreds of his disciples, is observing a fast from June 4 at Patanjali Yogapeeth, around 20 kms from here, to press for his demands of bringing back black money from foreign nations, tougher anti-graft laws and to uproot corruption from the country.

Earlier in the day, Ramdev did not show any sign of relentlessness and said that his fast will continue till Centre accepts all his demands.

Scores of Ramdev supporters are also participating in a day-long fast being observed by social activist Anna Hazare demanding a strong anti-corruption Lokpal bill in New Delhi today.
