New Delhi: Telangana crisis that was looming for some time has further deepened as majority of MPs, MLAs and ministers from the region submitted their resignations. The government does not appear to be alarmed though.
10 Congress MPs and 39 of its MLAs, including 11 ministers, and 34 TDP MLAs from the region resigned today to mount pressure over the government.
The Centre does not seem to be in any hurry though over the decision to bifurcate the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Union Minister P Chidambaram described the situation as normal and told media that matter will be resolved soon. He said, “There is no need to be alarmed. The resignations did not come as a surprise to us. The Congress party is in touch with the legislators and we would be able to persuade them to be patient.”
Describing the issue as “complex and extremely sensitive,” Chidambaram said that the government is “trying to work out a consensus.”
Nine Congress MPS from Telangana region of the state submitted their resignations the speaker Meira Kumar.
The letter submitted to the speaker said, “The people of Telangana strongly believe that the resignation is the only way for achieving Telangana State.”
Senior minister K Jana Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad, “Our resignations are neither to defy the Congress high command nor to create political or constitutional crisis in the state. They are meant only to convey the strong aspirations of Telangana people to the Congress high command as well as the Government of India.”
