ATS Pick Up Four Muslim Youths From Mohali

Mohali. Four Muslim youths were picked up by ATS from their rented accommodation in Mohali on Jan 1. Two of them were released on 3 Jan.

The police picked up Qamar Alam Sheikh, Abdul Wahab, Tanveer Alam and Mohd Ashraf. All of these youths hail from Bihar and study in Swami Parmananda College of Engineering Mohali. Ashraf and Tanveer  were released on January 3 while the other two are flown to Mumbai by the ATS.

Confirming the detainment of the youths CIA Kharar Inspector Gurcharan Singh said that the operation was carried out by ATS. Now they are taken by the ATS.

Speaking to BeyondHeadlines Ashraf said that they were picked up from their rented accommodation on morning of January 1 at 6.30 am. Around 15-20 policeman dressed in civil dress  then took them to CIA Kharar office.

They were questioned separately. After Two days Tanveer and Ashraf were let off by the police. All their records and documents were also seized by the ATS. No information about the detainment of the youth was given to their families. Only after the release Ashraf informed families of other boys. All boys are aged between 18-20.

As per the information with BeyondHeadlines the boys were taken to Mumbai by Inspector Kedar Pawar under FIR 33 /11 under sections 419,420,465,467,120b of Indian Penal Code. According to Kharar Police the FIR is registered by IPC police station of ATS Mumbai. The suspicious arrest under forgery section raise further questions. So far police has not communicated with family members of boys detained.
