(Note: It is not strange how Indian media is increasingly joining doldrums of Islamophobia and war monger and hate preachers from America. Not only Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state but also notorious war monger writer and hate preacher Zionist academician Daniel Pipe has found newly found love in Indian neo liberal capitalists. Hindustan Summit has invited Daniel Pipes in its annual summit in which HT media has introduced him as a historian and former official in the U.S. departments of State whose focus in Middle East, a fact that he is invited to speak on a debate “Better Dictators Than Elected Islamists” a clear policy issue how to deal with post Arab Spring world. The debate seems one sided as the other participants like Roger Cohen and Douglas Murray are also well known American war mongers who had been advocating for war against American enemies including Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. Only one Indian diplomat M Bhadrkumar will be expected to present Indian view. The HT summit show along with other shows of like India Today Conclave, Tahalka’s ThiNK represent India’s upper middle class’ struggle to maintain its control over intellectual discourse. The way Indian academia and home grown scholarship is undermined in these summits and authority is given to Western thinkers and academicians is not except to ink closer ties and seek legitimacy from Western power for their power grab in Indian politics. The struggle starts from imposing an American hegemony to unquestioned strategic and defense ties with Israel with sending strong message to the world that India is America’s natural ally, a perception which is seriously contested by middle class and lower middle class and Hindi speaking population. Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi is always seen as left’s den where any such so called summits will be easily challenged intellectually and academically, has now become main target of Israeli and American lobbies supported by right wing forces. At the time when European and American academicians are declaring academic boycott of Israel such as famous scientist Stephen Hawking’s boycott of the Israeli president’s conference, and European Union’s new guidelines to revise academic cooperation in the wake of Israeli’s settlement policies, Indian government is rolling out red carpet for hate preachers and extremists academicians and right wing Israeli think tanks and academicians in India who are targeting Indian universities mainly Jawaharlal Nehru University. Professors and researchers from JNU are also lured by Israeli government and right wing think tanks to join Israeli universities and research projects on attractive funds and fellowships. As a result, Israeli wars and occupations are getting more academic approval from this central university JNU. India’s Palestine policy has been gradually disapproved by JNU faculty members and researchers. American Zionist and war monger Daniel Pipes’ upcoming visit to JNU next week is not in isolation of these consistent hijacking of Indian academia. India is gradually turning into hub of international Muslim bashers, and Islamophobes like Canada based another war supporter Tarek Fatah and Tasleema Nasreen whose criticism of Islam is based on hate speech rather than serious academic deliberations. Frequent visits of Islamophobes and Muslim bashers in India have much scope for many political parties in India whose primary political ideology is Islamophobia. United Nations has taken serious notice of increasing hate speech against Muslims and crimes related to Islamophobia and United Nations Alliance of Civilization is working to sensitize public opinion on Islamophobia. India has seen sharp increase in Islamophobic crimes against Muslims in recent years and India’s emergence as a superpower on global stage is with its departure and betrayal of its support to Palestine and African poor countries. Those who are welcoming Daniel Pipe must also understand that given to his staunch advocacy for war against Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan he does not qualify to be a reliable academic and he has been condemned and listed for his hate speeches. To refer him as academician is not less than a matter of shame for Indian academia and its subservience to American neo conservatives and Israeli Zionist lobbies. www.Beyondheadlines.in)

JNU welcomes Islamophobe and hate preacher Daniel PipesOften conspiracy theory as a matter of belief is attached with Muslims but it has many other believers among Islam’s Semitic brothers mainly among American Zionist lobbies where their main agenda is to float conspiracy theories against every Muslim or Arab countries which is in search for American good will. Recent anti Iran propaganda tried to derail entire rapprochement between Iran and the West mainly the United States. A leading light of this cult is Daniel Pipes who recently tried creating a panic among Russians by his twisted arguments on how a Muslim Russia is emerging. Like in his all other unsubstantiated deliberations, Pipes warned Russians that ‘Christians were declining in numbers by 0.6 percent a year and Muslims increasing by that same amount, which would have dramatic effects over time’ (The Washington Times 20 October 2013) and that Russia is facing a demographic revolution. Mark Adomanis of Forbes Magazine questioning Pipes’ data sources argued that Russian Muslim population is also shrinking and they have below replacement fertility. The claim by Pipes is originates from similar international Islamophobes who are predicting about Eurabia or Muslim Europe by 2050, a claim rejected by all scientific population growth projections. Daniel Pipes and his Middle East Forum has been listed among top five “key think tanks led by scholars who are primarily responsible for orchestrating the majority of anti-Islam messages polluting our national discourse today” a survey by Center for American Progress  published its 2011 report. His anti-immigrant statements have fuelled much xenophobia in the West. In one of his statement to a right wing magazine he is quoted to say “Immigrants seeking refuge in the West must be grilled for their attitudes toward our civilization, our religion, and politics.” He called US Iran deal a foreign policy disaster. His hysteric Islamophobic statements have crossed the lines of academic standards and sincerity. Few of his venomous statements which carried serious contents of Islamophobia

In his article on Islamism 2.0 he states

“To borrow a computer term, if Ayatollah Khomeini, Osama bin Laden, and Nidal Hasan represent Islamism 1.0, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (the prime minister of Turkey), Tariq Ramadan (a Swiss intellectual), and Keith Ellison (a U.S. congressman) represent Islamism 2.0. The former kill more people but the latter pose a greater threat to Western civilization.”

“In conclusion, only Islamists, not fascists or communists, have gone well beyond crude force to win public support and develop a 2.0 version. Because this aspect of Islamism undermines traditional values and destroys freedoms, it may threaten civilized life even more than does 1.0’s brutality.”

In his support to a Islamophobe Dutch politicians Geert Wilders who was later on charged with “incitement to hatred and discrimination” and was banned from entering UK.’’’’ Daniel Pipes praised him in his article Why I Stand with Geert Wilders

“Overcoming the tendency of Dutch politicians to play it safe, he calls Muhammad a devil and demands that Muslims ‘’tear out of half of the Koran if they wish to stay in the Netherlands. More broadly, he sees Islam itself as the problem, not just a virulent version of it called Islamism.

 In support of racial profiling:

“I’m absolutely in favor of using all sorts of profiling, whatever is necessary for the police, for law enforcement to intelligently and sensibly approach the problem of preventing terrorism. If that means using their intelligence and looking more at 20 years olds than 90 year olds, looking more at males than females, looking more at people of Arab origin than non-Arab origin, looking more at one rather than the other, I’m absolutely in favor of it (CNN November 18 2002).

In support of so called war on terrorism and pre-emptive war strikes after September 11 attacks, he advocates like a war monger in his piece War, not “Crimes” Time for a paradigm shift.

“It means retaliating every single time terrorism harms an American. There is no need to know the precise identity of a perpetrator; in war, there are times when one strikes first and asks questions later. When an attack takes place, it could be reason to target any of those known to harbor terrorists. If the perpetrator is not precisely known, then punish those who are known to harbor terrorists. Go after the governments and organizations that support terrorism. It means using force so that the punishment is disproportionately greater than the attack. The U.S. has a military force far more powerful than any other in the world: Why spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year on it and not deploy it to defend Americans?”

Like many Indian fascists he is advising youths not to have love affair with Muslims particularly non Muslim women. In his article Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men he endorses statement by a women commentator who says

“I would strongly advise to any non-Muslim woman NOT to get involved with a Muslim man. They will NEVER change, no matter how Americanized they seem. Their culture is too ingrained in them. They might want to be Western and they might live a Western lifestyle with their wife but once you have kids EVERYTHING will change.”.

About Palestine and Palestinian issues Pipes echoes his hatred against Palestinians and advices that “Palestinians need almost as much to be defeated by Israel as Israel needs to defeat them.” His insensitive and inhuman simplification of Iraqi civil war tragedy in article on Civil war in Iraq

“Fixing Iraq is neither the coalition’s responsibility nor its burden. The damage done by Saddam will take many years to repair. Americans, Britons, and others cannot be tasked with resolving Sunni-Shiite differences, an abiding Iraqi problem that only Iraqis themselves can address……. Civil war in Iraq, in short, would be a humanitarian tragedy but not a strategic one.”

About Palestinians he echoes his insensitive views in his article in Jerusalem Post (27 December 2007)

“Palestinians must experience the bitter crucible of defeat before they will drop their foul goal of eliminating their Israeli neighbor and begin to build their own economy, polity, society, and culture. No short-cut to this happy outcome exists. Who truly cares for Palestinians must want their despair to come quickly, so that a skilled and dignified people can move beyond its current barbarism and build something decent.

The huge and wasted outpouring of Western financial aid, ironically, brings on that despair in two ways: by encouraging terrorism and by distorting the economy, both of which imply economic decline. Rarely has the law of unintended consequences worked so imaginatively Jerusalem Post (27 December 2007).”

“The implication is clear: if Israel is to protect itself, it must achieve a comprehensive military victory over the Palestinians.” (New York Post April 2, 2002)

His pro war scholarship and his ardent support for Israeli wars on Palestine, settlements, and his consistent propaganda campaign against Arab and Muslim immigrants in Europe and the United States has long and direct connections with America’s neo conservative pro war lobbies and weapon lobbies which have always been advocating for war on after other. Majority of highly cited scholars of the Middle East/International Politics have called Daniel Pipes an unreliable, dangerous person and propagandist (Christopher Hitchens) who makes up ‘selective’ arguments and ‘distorts’ facts in favour of his ‘xenophobic’ views who is promoting neo Nazis’ politics in the West. At a time when Daniel Pipes and his group are supporting an intellectual back up for neo imperialist and re-colonization designs and Israel’s war and occupation of Palestinian land and engaged in creating xenophobia, it has become important to isolate such forces within academic community in order to ensure unbiased and critical scholarship which at least approves at least fundamental human rights and freedom from colonial occupation. Every international convention against occupation of a foreign land, protection of human rights of people of occupied territories, convention on the Suppression and Punishment of Apartheid (approved by the UN General Assembly in 1973 and coming into force in 1976) have been seriously violated by state of Israel. Professors from Israel have always remained silent or supportive to policies of state of Israel ignoring appeals of international organizations and countries. The way Zionist influence is seeping into academic discourses has highlighted dangers of emergence of neo Nazis across the globe in different forms whose prime victims are minorities, marginalized sections, and immigrants. Daniel Pipes’ visit to JNU under the garb of a research forum is an extension of right wing forces’ quest to promote racist, pro war, xenophobic and hate speech against minorities, marginalised and victims of war and occupations all over the world including Palestine. An academic boycott of Israel is still much needed which is already going on in many countries and supported by a large number of academia. Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel needs more attention and support among Asian and Indian academia on the line of 500 European academicians’ call on EU not to water down new Israeli settlement guidelines.
