Khwaja Ahmad Abbas Centenary Celebrations at AMU

To commemorate the hundredth birth anniversary of its illustrious alumnus and a prolific writer, journalist and film maker, Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, the Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a two-day programme, “Bread, Beauty and Revolution: Exploring the Kaleidoscopic World of Khwaja Ahmad Abbas” on February 25-26, 2014. The programme is being organized as part of the “Khwaja Ahmad Abbas Centenary Celebrations” in collaboration with K.A. Abbas Centenary Celebration Committee (KAACCC).

The inaugural session of the programme will be organized on February 25, 2014 at 12 noon in the Kennedy Auditorium of AMU. The Governor of Uttrakhand and Chairman of the K.A. Abbas Centenary Celebration Committee, Mr. Aziz Qureshi will be the Chief Guest. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah will preside over the function.

Eminent scholar, Prof. Gopi Chand Narang will deliver the keynote address while Dr. Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, Member, Planning Commission of India, Prof. Mushirul Hasan, Prof. Asghar Wajahat and AMU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. (Retd.) S. Ahmad Ali will address on the occasion as guests of honour.

Mr. Aziz Qureshi will also release the book of Prof. Himendra Chandelia on Khawaja Ahmad Abbas and Mrs. Zaheer will make a presentation “The man who saw tomorrow”.
