PUNE: The Pune District Collectorate officials led by Khed Shivapur circle officer Shekhar Shinde Thursday sealed the flat of alleged Indian Mujahideen operative Mohsin Choudhary ‘s one BHK flat no 3 located on the first floor of Manisha Residential Complex in Mithanagar, Kondhwa.

The sealing was done following the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court order which asked the district collector to seize Choudhary’s property on grounds that he was wanted in connection with blast investigations and has been absconding for a long time. The sealing team comprising of circle officer Shinde, Katraj Talathi Milind Sethi and Ambegaon Talathi Deepak Chachar sealed the flat around 3.45 pm.

The administration officials had arrived early around 10 am in the morning but  Choudhary’s family member ‘s objected to the sealing and sought time on humanitarian grounds maintaining  they had no place to reside on eviction .The family will be spending  Thursday night in the society parking as they don’t have any other place to go. A heavy police bandobast was deployed at the venue with plain clothed policemen from Special cell (SC), State Intelligence Department (SID) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) , who made keen inquiries about the development.

Shinde told media persons that the flat had been locked, sealed and the video shooting of the process was done after which a compliance report has been sent to the NIA court.

Mohsin’s wife (name protected) said “My two kids are scheduled to appear for school exams on Monday and the sudden development has been traumatic. I wonder what will happen to theirs and the future of my family. Mohsin has been absconding for past seven years and we don’t know whether he is dead or alive. I don’t understand why we are being made to pay a price for his crimes which are yet to be proved in the court of law. We requested the district administration to take a lenient view but our request has not been granted. Out life is shattered and our future is bleak,” she added.

Mohsin’s brother who refused to be named said that he had already lost a job for being brother of Mohsin. “The district collectorate had received the court order on March 6 but it sat on it and suddenly came knocking our doors on Wednesday evening asking us to vacate the flat on Thursday. It is one of most tragic day as we have been asked to leave at a short notice. The flat is jointly owned by Mohsin and his wife and hence she is entitled to stay in flat as a matter of human right,” he added. He further said that the family has moved court drawing its attention that the flat was jointly owned by Mohsin and his wife.

Kondhwa Police Station Incharge Pandharinath Mandhare said that NIA, Mumbai Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abhin D Modak had sent a letter to the district administration on March 6 asking it to seize the flat according to the NIA court order. The district collector on March 26 directed the Khed Shivapur Circle Officer to carry out sealing at Choudhary’s flat.
