TWO LANKANS CAUGHT WITH FAKE PASSPORTS AT PUNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

PUNE : Close on the heels of two Myanmar nationals being arrested for possessing  fake passports in Pune, the immigration bureau sleuths posted at Pune International Airport  arrested two Srilankan nationals on Sunday afternoon while they were trying to board a Dubai bound flight. The duo was caught for carrying fake passports said the Airport police.

The suspects have  been identified as S. Udyan Subramanyam (36) and Y. Rukman Yusthas (25). They had arrived in the city on Sunday morning by train and were trying to board Air-India flight to Dubai at 1500 hours.

Subramanyam has been staying in Chennai since 2011, where as Yusthas was residing in Madurai since last eight years. Both of them have told the police that they are painters by profession.

Police sub Inspector, Haribhau Markad of Airport police station said, “The Lankans were caught by immigration  bureau for showing fake passports  and their photos were pasted on passports which were not matching to  their original names.”

Markad added that the passports were issued at Chennai around two months back. Both of them were produced in Shivaji nagar court on Monday and have been remanded to police custody till March 15.
