WPI AP Criticizes BJP State Leader for “Neglecting Constituency”

BeyondHeadlines News Desk

Welfare Party of India (WPI) Andhra Pradesh criticized BJP MLA and state leader Kishan Reddy for neglecting constituency, after the party received information about various works done during last four years in Mr. Reddy’s constituency.

Through an RTI application Syed Faqruddin Ali Ahmed, WPI AP State Secretary and Greater Hyderabad City President, came to know that projects undertaken under CDP have not been completed.

He said Amberpet Constituency MLA Kishan Reddy has misled public in the name of developing the constituency as just one project completed out of 138 projects undertaken under Constituency Development Programme (CDP).

The AP state government sanctioned 131.55 lack rupees under CDP for all these projects for development of Amberpet area between 2010-11 to 2013-14, but records show that just one project was completed and remaining all are in “progress” status.

As per the information received through RTI, total 48 projects worth 85.46 lakh were sanctioned during 2010-2011 but just one project was completed, while 88 projects worth 196.45 lakh were sanctioned between 2011-12 to 2013-14 which are still in “progress” status.

Mr. Faqruddin, an MLA candidate of WPI from Amberpet Constituency, said that 46 projects were “drilling of Borewell” which are still in progress. “Despite so many borewell drilling projects, why people are still facing drinking and supply water problems in the area,” he wondered.

After taking out padayatras and door-to-door meetings in Amberpet, Mr. Faqruddin said area residents in expressed that Mr. Kishan Reddy “least cared about issues faced by public”.

He added that problems such as sanitation, contaminated drinking supply water, nuisance due to heavy traffic, worse conditions of govt. schools and healthcare centres are not addressed.

“Why Kishan Reddy failed to address important major problems being faced by local residents? Where he had been for all these years, not reachable to residents of Amberpet area?”

Dr. Ashfaq of WPI Amberpet pointed towards another important issue: harassment of youth particularly of Minority communities and backward castes by police and unnecessary cases on them.

In a statement WPI Andhra Pradesh said: “At one side BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi promotes party’s philosophy of ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikas’, while its AP state leader could not develop the constituency he is representing.”
