Azam Campus is run MCES society headed by noted educationist P A Inamdar

PUNE: The decision by Maharashtra Cosmopolitan and Education Society (MCES) run Azam Campus to host an event directly related to Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) controlled Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) has run into constroversy with a section of Pune muslims opposing the decision alleging that management had acted against the interests of the community by hosting Ajmer blasts suspect and RSS ideologue Indresh Kumar during the function.
Kumar had attended the function related to Fatima Shaikh Award organised at the Assembly hall of Azam Campus on Saturday morning. The well attended function was graced by several prominent members of the management committee including Mrs Mumtaz Peerbhoy, Mrs Abeda Inamdar and MRM convenor Latif Magdum.
Azhar Tamboli, Secretary of Action Committee, informed the media that it was an unfortunate incident that the management took the decision of hosting Kumar to be chief guest of the function when it had many options of prominent muslim faces and secular personalities. ” The event shows that managment has lost all moral scruples and is doing something which is against the interests of the community . The President of MCES society should know that he represents community and muslims do not like his proximity with such people who are accused of killing Muslims in Masjid and Dargah”, he said.
Students and staffers who attended the event that they had attended the event only because they were employees of the MCES society. ” We never wanted to attend such function where controversial figures are called but we are compelled to attend as our absence may cause us problem in academics by the management for showing lack of interest”they maintained citing condition of anonymity.
Kumar in his address stressed that the muslim community should follow the path of late President and missile man of India A P J and not that of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yaqub Memo. A number of youngs girls from Abeda Inamdar Junior College, Scholars Batch, clerics , old and young men including RSS ideologues were present during the function.
