According to Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin,the DMK ministers will not resign from the union cabinet because Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has asked them to wait for one more day to resolve the crisis.

Addressing the media at Anna Arivalayam, DMK’s headquarters, Stalin said that Mukherjee had exchange of words with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi twice during the whole day and that the finance minister urged the chief minister to wait for one more day.

Six DMK ministers came here today morning to handover their resignations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as per the decision made at the party’s high-power committee.

A resolution adopted in the meeting announced that the DMK would quit the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre in the wake of Congress going up its demand of seats for the Assembly elections. Besides demanding 63 seats, the Congress said the seats should be of its choice.
