New Delhi: The trial of Tahawwur Rana, Pakistani-Canadian LeT operative, will begin from May 16 in Chicago, USA.
49 year old Rana is a co-accused with David Headley in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
US District Court Judge Harry Leinenweber informed on Monday, “The process of seating jurors for the trial has begun.” The open trial is likely to continue for a month.
While Headley, a US citizen and believed to be the double agent of CIA who later turned allegiance, has pleaded guilty, Rana has denied all charges.
On November 26, 2008 about 10 terrorists from Pakistan had attacked Mumbai killing at least 166 people, including Mumbai’s top cops Hemant Karkare and six American citizens, besides several Jews.
Rana, who was previously a doctor with the Pakistani Army Medical Corps, later migrated to Canada. If convicted he may be sentenced for life.
