Ajmer (Rajasthan): After paying obeisance at the dargah (shrine) of Sufi Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia in New Delhi, Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar paid a visit to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti here on Thursday. Hundreds of people queued up on both sides of the road to get a glimpse of the youngest and first-ever foreign minister of Pakistan.

“We have read so much about her in the newspapers over the past two days. We were standing right in front of the crowd and were able to see her as she got out of the vehicle and entered the dargah. She even smiled in acknowledgment as people cheered,” said a college student, who was at the dargah market along with his friends since 9.30 in the morning. The entire dargah was turned into a fortress for the visit of Hina, who reached the shrine around 3.35 pm and spent nearly 20 minutes inside. The entry of other visitors was blocked. The khadim of Pakistani officials, Syeed Natik Chishti, welcomed her at the dargah. “I told her about Garib Nawaz and his teachings as well as the rituals of the dargah. She took great interest, especially in Khwaja’s teachings,” said Natik.

The Pakistani foreign minister offered a chadar and flowers in the dargah and sat on the floor for prayers. Another khadim who was present there, added: “She was at peace. She would smile every time somebody shared some information with her.”

Just after coming out of the dargah, she told media persons that “it is a personal visit,” before being whisked away by her security men.

Before arriving at the dargah, Hina spent some time at Ajmer Circuit House. Special basmati rice, vegetables and chapattis were prepared for her there. “Though she did not take lunch she had some snacks and juice,” an official said.
