Did BJP Know There Were No More Bombs in Gandhi Maidan at Patna?

Mukul Sinha

Why was BJP’s Hunkar meeting allowed to continue in Gandhi Maidan at Patna despite a bomb exploding inside the Maidan just 20 minutes before Modi and other leaders of BJP were to start the meeting? Despite the explosions, who gave the clearance to hold  the meeting is a mystery since if there were more bombs in the huge maidan where 1000s had gathered, hundreds of lives would have been endangered. Even a rumour of another bomb threat at the venue could have led to a devastating stampede. The organizers of the meeting are as responsible for the lives and limbs of the people they invite to their meetings as the law enforcing agencies.

When 6 bombs explode in the city of Patna including 1 inside the venue – wouldn’t a complete evacuation of the maidan followed by an extensive search be the only option before the law enforcement agencies? It is a well known procedure that even in case of a bomb threat the police evacuates all areas in the vicinity of the threat and does not permit any person to enter the area till the area is confirmed to have been santized. Wouldn’t the local police be responsible for not cancelling the permission of the meeting once they knew that a bomb has exploded inside the venue? Who would now take the responsibility of such an irresponsible act of continuing the Hunkar meeting which is being passed off as an act of bravery? Or did the BJP leaders know there were no more bombs?
