SIO Telangana Elects First Zonal President

Newly formed Telangana state chapter of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) elected Abdul Malik Shariq as its Zonal President for a two year term 2015-16 here in Hyderabad.

Mr. Shariq is an engineer by profession, and possesses degree in electronics and communication engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU). He did schooling from his hometown Nizamabad.

Speaking with BeyondHeadlines, Mr. Shariq said he came to know about SIO in his school days, and took part in SIO’s children circle activities. “I became member of SIO in 2001,” he recalled.

“SIO is a national organization working for betterment of students and youth of this country. In critical times like this where a particular section of the society is trying to impose Hindutva beliefs, we will strive for communal harmony, pluralism and constitutional directives,” Mr. Shariq noted.

Before being elected Zonal President of SIO Telangana, Mr. Shariq served as state secretary of undivided SIO Andhra Pradesh Zone for the term 2013-14. He is expected to dedicate his full time at SIO Telangana Zone for this term.

As a student, he was active in extra-curricular activities such elocution, essay writings and quiz. He participated in many such activities at intra-school and inter-school level competitions. He had been distinction student in his all board exams.
