Jamia Professor gets UK varsity visiting fellowship to work on ‘Support for street children in Delhi’

New Delhi: Prof. Naved Iqbal of Department of Psychology, JMI has been selected for Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) visiting fellowship of the University of Leicester, the UK under a program that addresses challenges faced by developing countries.

Prof. Iqbal’s proposal ‘Support for street children in Delhi’ has been selected for this fellowship after a rigorous process. He will be working on the problems faced by the street children in Delhi and the available support system for them.  

The GCRF Fellowship scheme attracts leading high calibre researchers to the university with a view to develop equitable partnerships, facilitate excellent research collaborations between academic communities within the Leicester University, UK and the global south. It also aims at engaging activities likely to result in a positive impact on the economic development and welfare needs of developing countries.

Apart from this fellowship, Prof. Iqbal has been working on several other international research projects that include Indo-German (UGC-DAAD) research project with University of Saarland, Germany and a joint Indo-Canadian project under Shastri Research Grant (SRG) with the university of Waterloo, Canada.
