New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is taking several steps to attract more foreign students in the university as Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar, has shown her keen interest in this regard. 

A brochure with all recent achievements, history, facilities for foreign students and other required details of the university has been published and sent to various Indian Diplomatic Missions abroad both in hard and soft copies by the Office of the Director International Relations, JMI. The brochure has also been uploaded on the official website of the university- https://www.jmi.ac.in .

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor has formed a committee comprising of Prof. Shafique Ahmad Ansari, Prof. Mukesh Ranjan, Prof. Baran Farooqui and Dr. Lubna Siddiqui for the preparation of the brochure.

The Vice-Chancellor has also extended the date for submission of the application forms for admission of foreign students for the session 2019-2020 till July 1, 2019 on recommendation of the Foreign Students Advisor, Dr. Lubna Siddiqui.

The first list of selected/wait listed candidates for admission to Under-graduate Courses will be displayed on JMI website on July 15, 2019 and the list of selected /wait listed candidates for Post-graduate Courses will be displayed on 22 July 2019.

At present, 279 foreign students from 39 countries are registered to various academic programmes of the university under various categories of admission. 240 applications have been received from Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under various scholarship schemes of Government of India, out of which 65 applications have been provisionally considered for admission. Fee for these scholars is at par with Indian Students.

Apart from this, 180 applications from foreign students and 265 applications from NRI wards under Supernumerary category have also been received for admission to various Under-graduate and Post-graduate courses of the university. Fee between US $ 1200 to US $ 4800 per annum is charged from the candidates admitted under this category.

A total of 109 applications have been received for admission to various classes of Jamia School under supernumerary category. The fee of US $ 600 to US $ 1000 is charged annually for school sector. 25 applications have also been received for admission to various Ph.D. programmes.

Presently, university has a well-furnished International Boys Hostel (IBH) with 35 double bed rooms with all necessary facilities including AC, Gym, Reading room, Common room and Canteen.
