The Telangana Chief Minister and Majlis Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s “RSS Tillu” Revanth Reddy, reportedly received a political message from his “Bade Bhai” Narendra Modi during a 5-minute one-on-one meeting with fellow RSS Cadre and Nizamabad Member of Parliament D. Arvind from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This was preceded by a meeting of delegation, which included Congress leader Rohin Reddy, BJP MP Arvind, and others.
The “RSS Tillu” is itching to become a ” Political Lambu.” From a short guy to a tall political leader, the journey is fraught with danger. Revanth Reddy has suddenly become hugely unpopular by letting loose HYDRAA on poor and middle-class people who were allegedly encroaching on full tank levels and buffer zones of lakes and water bodies in and around the capital city Hyderabad. The economic fallout of demolitions is for all to see as Hyderabad’s real estate has fallen by a whopping 47 percent. Suddenly, the not-so-honest builder lobby is antagonized with Revanth Reddy as major real estate projects have come to a grinding halt and they see no hope of economic revival soon.
The Telugu Actor Allu Arjun episode in which a woman fan died at Sandhya theatre and others were injured to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun during the screening of the film Pushpa, has turned the Telugu film industry against Revanth for a 1-day dramatic arrest and release of Allu Arjun. The ‘stars’ feel their fall is imminent if Revanth Reddy continues as Chief Minister of Telangana.
The Arvind – Revanth 5-minute meeting assumes significance in the above scenario. The infighting in the Congress and senior leaders like Komat Reddy Venkat Reddy, Captain. Uttar Kumar Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka are angling to turn the tables on Revanth as his unpopularity soars. There are reports of Congress’s high command being not too amused with Revanth’s performance as chief minister. Perhaps, sensing the political high tide, which could rock Revanth ‘s boat, he quietly cultivated his relationship with his “Bade Bhai” Narendra Modi.
What can be safely deduced from Arvind-Revanth ‘s private meeting is that Arvind carried a message of offer of support to Revanth Reddy in case he decides to take on the Congress high command and turn a political traitor to continue as chief minister with a group of Congress MLAs, BJP legislators and a likely breakaway faction of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) legislators. However, Arvind has called a meeting with Revanth, a meeting to discuss ‘development works’ in his constituency.
It may be recalled that after the Congress won the Legislative Assembly elections in Telangana, I had cautioned, through these columns, the Congress Party and particularly Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi not to appoint Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister due to his suspect loyalty and RSS background. My advice went unheeded.
It remains to be seen if the Congress high command can nip the brewing rebellion in the bud or Revanth Reddy’s “Bade Bhai” Narendra Modi will have the last laugh as usual. The BJP is fond of “ATMs” and it will not hesitate to snatch an ATM from Congress.
Surely, Telangana is not a small ATM!
