Delhi Blast Accused to Contest MCD Elections

New Delhi. In democracy what majority says is right. And the Majority of Batla house, a locality in National capital New Delhi strongly believe that the infamous 2008 Batla House Encounter was fake.

The Batla House ‘Encounter’ was an issue in 2012 Uttar Pradesh elections and the people of Jamia Nagar have decided to keep the issue heated in MCD elections as well. Tahaffuz-e-Millat Tehrik, a community group working for Jamia Nagar has decided to field New Delhi Blast Accused Zia-Ur-Rehman as a candidate in MCD elections due next Month. Zia-Ur-Rehman, a Jamia Student, was arrested after Batla House ‘Encounter’ for his alleged role in 2008 Delhi serial blasts. His is currently lodged in a jail in Ahmedabad.

The security agencies call him a Indian Mujahideen terrorists but Muslim Community believes that he is falsely implicated in terror cases. To make his call for justice stronger and heard, now the community has decided to field him as an independent candidate from Ward No. 205 in coming MCD elections.

Speaking to BeyondHeadlines the Tahaffuz-e-Millat Convener Amanatullah said that the people of the community are fielding him as independent candidate. He said that the Tahaffuz-e-Millat is in talks with other secular parties and asking them not to field candidates against Zia-Ur-Rehman.

Amanatullah said that the Muslim Community strongly believes that the encounter was fake but the congress government at center and at state call it a genuine one. All those who believe that the encounter was fake will vote for Zia-Ur-Rehman and will express their sentiments through their votes.

The Tahaffuz-e-Millat is also in talks with mother of Saqib Nisar, another Delhi Blast accused in Jail, to contest elections from ward No 206.
