The candle light demonstration is being organised to protest the killing of Anthony Samy and the brutal repression over the last two days by police of people part of People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy which is carrying on a valiant long drawn struggle against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant being set up near Kanyakumari with Russian help. People, who mostly include fisherfolk, face a threat to their lives and livelihood because of this plant in addition to the possibility of a Fukushima type accident.
