He was addressing in a lecture and interaction on ‘Minorities in India: Identity and Security’ at SIO Headquarters, New Delhi.

“National Commission for Minorities is concerned about the feeling of insecurity in the Muslim community which is the outcome of arresting of Muslim youths in the name of terrorist activity. There is an urgent need that through training or other means an effort is made to make police sensitive towards minorities. National Commission for Minorities recommended that victims who are found to be innocent and acquitted by court should be rehabilitated and compensated”, He added.

In the inaugural address PM Salih, Secretary General, Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) opined that recent trend of illegal arresting of Muslim youths has raised questions on the very identity of the Muslims in India. Why state is engaged in terrorising its civilians rather than ensuring their security. The message of the whole programme was that Muslims should come forward for their rights and security.
