New Delhi:  A suspicious box was found near Delhi University’s Gargi College in South Delhi, raising alarm. It, however, appears to be a prank or mischief, aimed at creating panic.

Initial reports suggest that box, kept at the bus stop, contained ingredients of an explosive, presumably kept to create panic.

Amulya Patnaik, Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range), told media: “It appears that somebody played a sort of prank or mischief. This could not have exploded as there was no arrangement which could have led to an explosion. It was a firecracker kind of assembly. It would not have worked.”

The bomb disposal squad is further examining it. Police has cordoned off the area.

On May 26, a low intensity blast had taken place in a car outside the Delhi High Court. Two persons have been arrested in connection.
