8th seed Russian Mikhail Youzhny ousted Somdev Devburman, the only Indian playing Men’s singles event at Wimbledon by 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.

The rain interrupted match saw the Russian dominating from the first game.

17-year-old Youzhny appeared in his full flow driving Somdev out of the competition with ease. He faced six break points from the Indian but denied them every time.

Somdev had a sloppy start as he dropped serve in the very first game and letting Youzhny to take better of him. Youzhny went on to win the opening set 6-2 and carried forward his momentum in the next two sets.

The 26-year-old Indian has never moved beyond the second round of a Grand Slam in previous five attempts.

However, he is in contention in the men’s doubles where he is partnering Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
