New Delhi: The United Progressive Alliance government and the opposition have reached an agreement to discuss the price rise issue following ruckus and adjournment of the houses.

The Lok Sabha is likely to take up discussion on price rise with voting under Rule 184 and similar discussion will be held with voting in the Rajya Sabha later.
Sources say that the text of the motion agreed upon could read like: “Dispite repeated discussion the Government has been unable to control price hike and thus this house expresses deep concern on its ability to do so.”

Both houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day as price rise dominated both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on Day 2 of the Monsoon Session on Tuesday. The day began with the Opposition disrupting proceedings and creating a ruckus in both the houses.

It was trouble from the beginning in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha as BJP members in the Upper House and those from the Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena in the Lower House raised several issues simultaneously by storming the well.

Both the Houses were first adjourned for nearly an hour till noon and then till 2 PM because of the ruckus.

BJP members, led by M Venkaiah Naidu, made a strong pitch in the Rajya Sabha for suspension of Question Hour to discuss price rise.

In the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party members trooped into the well seeking dismissal of the Mayawati government in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh for committing atrocities against farmers.

Members of Bahujan Samaj Party, whose government in Uttar Pradesh is in the dock over the issue of land acquisition, followed suit by carrying placards, blaming Congress-led government for the poor conditions of the peasantry. They demanded immediate passage of the Land Acquisition Bill.

Shiv Sena MPs stormed the well raising slogans demanding that Mumbai terror attack culprit Ajmal Kasab and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru be hanged immediately.
With the session being the first after the July 13 bomb blasts in Mumbai, the Sena members raised the issue of security in the financial capital of the country.
