Chennai: The assembly election for 234 seats in Tamil Nadu has recorded about 55 percent votes with 4.7 crore electorate cast their votes till 3 p.m.
So far, no major untoward incident had been reported during the polling, which would end at 5 pm, officials said.
The fate of over 2,700 candidates, including those of main contenders for power DMK and AIADMK, will be sealed in the fiercely fought polls during which issues such as 2G spectrum allocation scam, inflation and power cuts besides a slew of local issues were raised.
