Binayak Sen Gets Bail

BeyondHeadlines News Desk

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has granted bail to civil rights activist Binayak Sen, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of sedition and links with Maoists. Granting bail, the court observed that “no case of sedition is made out. He is just a sympathizer, nothing beyond that.”

Keeping literature is no cirme, says the apex court. “If someone keeps autobiography of Mahtam Gandhi, it does not make him Gandhian,” the SC said.

Sen, 61, had challenged the order of the Chhattisgarh High Court that had rejected his bail plea on February 10. He contended that the trial court erred in convicting him and that there was no substantial evidence against him.
