Guwahati (Assam): The ruling Congress in Assam appears set for a third term with the party leading in 55 out of 126 seats and its alliance partner BPF leading in six seats.

The opposition AGP is leading in five seats while AIUDF is leading in 13 and BJP in two, according to trends available for 80 seats.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi and his cabinet colleague Ajanta Neog are ahead of their nearest rivals, while opposition leader and two-time chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta of AGP is also leading in Berhampur by 3547 votes over Suresh Bora (INC).
BJP state president Ranjit Dutta is trailing behind Pallab Lochan Das (INC) in Bihali by 867 votes.

In Titabar, Tarun Gogoi is leading over Montu Moni Dutta (AGP) by over 1000 votes, former minister Ripun Bora’s wife Monika Bora (INC) is leading over Utpal Bora (Ind) by 1468 votes in Gohpur.

In Bokajan, Klingdung Ingti (INC) is leading over Jagat Sing Ingti (Ind) by 1117 votes, in Howraghat Khorsing Ingti (Inc) leading over Somang Kro (Ind) by 140 votes, in Biswanath Minister Nurjamal Sarkar (Inc) leading over Prabin Hazarika (AGP) by 1284 votes.

In Kokrajhar West, Pradip Kumar Brahma (BPF) is leading over independent UG Brahma by 3904 votes, in Sidli(SC) Congress ally and minister Chandan Brahma (BPF) is leading over Mauthi Brahma Hazowari (BPF) by 3864 votes.

In Kokrajhar East, minister Promila Rani Brahma (BPF) is leading over Kishore Basumatary by 3140 votes, in Bokakhat Arun Phukan (INC) is leading over Atul Bora (AGP) by 400 votes, in Diphu Bidya Sing Engleng sitting Congress MLA is leading over independent George Millick by 1319 votes.

In Bokajan Kieng, Doonagti of INC is leading over independent Jagat Sing Ingti by 526 votes. In Baithalungsu, Mansing Rongpi (INC) is leading over Jotsong Bey (ind) by 1663 votes while in Barpeta, AIUDF’s Abdul Rahim Khan is leading over Gunindra Nath Das (AGP) by over 500 votes.

In Baghbar, AIUDF’s Shiman Ali Ahmed is leading over Rajib Ahmed (INC) by 2979 votes and in Jonia, Abdul Khaleq (INC) is leading over Rafiqul Islam by 1166 votes. In Tezpur Rajen Barthakur (IND) is leading over former AGP president Brindaban Goswami by 600 votes.

In Sootea, BJP’s Rajesh Sarma is leading over CPI(M) Khemraj Chetri by 794 votes while in Golaghat PWD minister Ajanta Neog (INC) is leding over AGP’s Omeo Kumar by 2100 votes. In Khumtai, Bismita Gogoi (INC) is leading over AGP’s Upasana Gopgoi by 2000 votes.

In Gossaigaon, Majendra Narjari (BPF) is leading by 1748 votes over Asim Hansda (Ind), in Bijni Kamalsing Narzary (BPF) is over Khalilur Rahman (INC).
