TN Minority Welfare and Environment Minister Mariyam Pitchai Dies in Road Accident

Chennai: The newly appointed Minister for minorities welfare, and environment and pollution N. Mariyam Pitchai died today in road accident near Tiruchirapalli.
He was on his way to take oath as the member of the state assembly.
According to officials, a speeding truck trying to overtake his car hit the vehicle from behind in the morning.

N.R. Sivapathi, Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, whose car was behind Pitchai informed about the accident.

Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare N.R. Sivapathi, who was travelling behind the car, informed officials about the accident.

According to officials 7 people were in Pitchai’s car. All of them have suffered minor injuries.

Pitchai, 60, had defeated DMK’s K.N. Nehru in the recently concluded assembly election.
