Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova will meet on Saturday in the Women’s Singles final at All England Club for the 2011 Wimbledon Championship.
World no.6 Sharapova and eight-ranked Kvitova have met only once on the WTA circuit, with Sharapova prevailing on the hard-court.
Sharapova won her first Grand slam at Wimbledon way back in 2004 at the age of 17, with this now her first appearance in the final since her triumph.
The Russian has won three Grand Slams with the exception of the French Open, which she has failed to capture.
Sharapova have made her first finals appearance since her shoulder and injury problems in 2007/08/09.
Sharapova is having a great run in London, en-route to the finals she has overcome tough hurdles and defeated unseeded Sabine Lisicki in the semi-finals to advance to the finals.
Kvitova has never been to the final at Wimbledon, having reached the semis in 2010.However, she is the first left-handed woman to reach the finals in thirteen years, with Monica Sales the last to do so in 1998.
She has no Grand slam final experience; however, there are not many signs of nervousness from the Czech star.
She knocked off no.4 seed Victoria Azarenka in the semi-finals. She is trying to capture Wimbledon since her fellow Czech native Martina Navratilova won in 1990.
It will be an exciting; a win will put the former Wimbledon Winner Sharapova on the third spot in the WTA rankings behind Clijsters and Wozniacki.
