BeyondHeadlines News Desk

New Delhi: A 32-year-old man from Patna, Bihar, allegedly immolated himself in support of the Jan Lokpal Bill on Tuesday evening in the capital.

However, the police said that they were not able to confirm whether he was Anna’s supporter. “We cannot say that he is a supporter of Anna as nothing was found from his possession. No suicide note has been recovered either,” said a police official.

The incident took place at 4 p.m. at Kisan Ghat when a man shouting slogans in support of the Jan Lokpal Bill set himself on fire using kerosene oil. Passersby rushed to save him, but he had received 80% burn injuries before the flames were brought into control. The police was called and he was taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital.

“The person is identified as Dinesh Kumar, and he belongs to Patna. A passerby informed the police about the incident, and he was taken to the hospital immediately. According to the doctors, he has 80% burnt injuries and his condition is said to be critical. He is not fit to make a statement so we cannot say anything about the incident,” said a police officer.
