New Delhi: Najeeb Jung, vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university under the act of Parliament, has been nominated to the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The Reserve Bank of India, as the central banking institution of India, controls the monetary policy of the country and also maintains the country’s reserves. The Central Board is the apex body of the RBI. The general superintendence and direction of the RBI is entrusted to the Central Board of Directors.
The Central Board is appointed by the Government of India in keeping with the RBI Act.
On his appointment to the RBI’s Central Board, Jung said: “It is indeed an honour that I have been entrusted with this huge responsibility.”
