She was 20 years old. On 24th August, she had come to Jind in Haryana to attend an exam to be a teacher. She did not return home that day.
Her mutilated body was found near a canal the next day by the police. There were cigarette burn marks on her body and indications of sexual violence. Her family suspects her to have been kidnapped, raped and then murdered.
However, the police hurriedly conducted an autopsy. The autopsy states that it was neither rape nor murder.
The outraged family and the villagers feel that the administration is tampering with evidence. They have protested and refused to bury the body of the girl. The protesters including the family members of the woman staged a dharna at the bus stand with the girl’s body.
DSP Adarsh Singh said, ” A case of murder has been registered against unidentified people.”
We cannot let this incident be brushed aside by the administration and let the culprits get away with this horrendous crime. A proper investigation by the CID has to be carried out. The Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes PL Punia and Mamta Sharma, Chairperson of National Commission for Women are urged to take immediate steps to ensure the victim’s body is brought to AIIMS for postmortem and proper CID investigation is done.
We urge you to extend your full support to ensure that the case is brought to justice. If you too want justice be done, please sign the petition here.
