WPI Plans National Campaign Against Black Laws

BeyondHeadlines News Desk

Anti-terror laws are being used to terrorize youth from minority communities, says Welfare Party of India (WPI), which plans to launch a national campaign next month demanding govt. to repeal draconian laws.

Thousands of innocent youth, mostly from Muslim and Dalit communities, were put behind bars for years as under trials but at the end of the trial they were acquitted by the Courts for their innocence, noted WPI General Secretary PC Hamza.

WPI Plans National Campaign Against Black LawsThe party is set to launch its national campaign on 2 October, a day known for Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, against all draconian and black laws that undermine democratic values and rights.

“Welfare Party is of the strong conviction that all these draconian laws are enacted to suppress dissenting voice against the anti-people policies of the governments, at the centre or states,” the party said in a press release.

“The anti-people policies are made to benefit global   multinationals or national corporate giants.”

Mr. Hamza, who will lead the upcoming national campaign as Convener, reasoned that those innocent youth who cannot engage the costly legal fight, languish in jails without end.

“Scores of incidents like Ishrat Jahan case has undoubtedly proved that fake encounters in the guise of fighting terrorism were engineered with overt approval of political leadership and administrative officials for political ends and personal benefits,” added Mr. Hamza.

“Democracy will not flourish under the shadow of terror laws and a strong nation cannot be built by intimidation, but by inclusiveness of its citizens.”

The party plans to raise its voice against the black laws with vigor. It also planned to launch various programs across the country in October. A mass protest rally is scheduled on 2 October at Parliament Street, Janatar Mantar.

Mr. Hamza informed that leaders of various political parties, social and human right activists will address the rally, in addition to WPI office bearers.
