Acid attack survivor Preeti from Mumbai has been fighting for justice with a brave heart, despite facing hurdles in the complex democratic system. She’s hopeful to see the culprit being caught and punished.

Four months ago, Preeti’s father had requested Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to intervene in the case and direct Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate it. Mr. Shinde promised them of a CBI inquiry, he said.

Now in a recent meeting, Mr. Shinde had reportedly told Preeti’s father that the case has been transferred back to the government of Maharashtra.

“But now, he has changed his stand. He told us that the case has been sent back to the Maharashtra Government,” Preeti’s father said.

“I am heartbroken, but I won’t give up,” he added with a strong determination that people’s support helped him strength. “Our protest was supported by several other acid attack survivors who are fighting with us for Preeti.”

Preeti’s father has decided to deliver the petition to CBI Director. He’s hopeful to garner about 1 lakh signatures before his meeting to ensure that the director doesn’t ignore the demands.
