New Born Infant Death’s due to Medical Negligence…

Firdaus Jahan for BeyondHeadlines

Mohamad Yunus lost his nephew on 12th November 2013, who was stillborn due to medical negligence at the Sub Divisional Hospital at Madhupur, in Deogarh District, Jharkhand. When they went to the hospital, there was no any doctor and any help available. They waited there for 3 hours for the doctors. When the case became serious, they decided to go to local private clinic. And there his sister-in-law delivered a stillborn male infant.

He said that if there would be assistance of ambulance at right time for pregnant women at the time of delivery as well as doctors at the Sub Divisional Hospital were available then, his nephew would have been alive.

Therefore they sent a complaint to the Sub Divisional Officer and District Collector as well on Children’s day (14th November) but no action has been taken yet against those responsible for the family loss. And for this purpose, he started a petition on Change.org asking the District Magistrate of Deogarh, Mr. Rahul Pawar to take immediate action against the authorities at the Sub Divisional Hospital, Madhurpur, so that such cases are not repeated in Deogarh, Jharkhand. And in order to get justice he would need as much support as they can get to ensure that the District Magistrate takes immediate action.

Because India has the highest number of new born infant deaths in the world. And new born infant death’s due to medical negligence is a major issue in the country, according to media. Ambulance are not sent on time, lack of doctors and medical facilities are faced by many people in other areas.
