On the eve of the International Women’s Day, Google Development Group Kashmir (GDG-K) in association with Dean Students Welfare University of Kashmir brought together Valley’s women technology leaders under the banner WOMEN TECHMAKERS to inspire the young techies of the valley here at Ibn Khaldoon Auditorium in University of Kashmir.
The event was chaired by scientists, professors and engineers from the different noble institutes of the valley, and saw participation of students and professionals.
While speaking at the event Ms Seema Rubab from the faculty of National Institute of Technology Srinagar focused on breaking the stereotypes and prejudiced attitude developed against a girl going for engineering
Dr Rehana Habib from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences nurtured the formal argument by saying “Maths has been suffixed to women as she has been taking care of home budget since early days of human life”.
The limelight of the event was participant discussions on women & technology during its technical hangout session by Chelley Gray, based in Google, Philippines, and Dhatri Mishra, based in Google Developer Group, Indore.”
“The day long summit is aimed at increasing visibility, community and resources for Kashmiri women interested in technology,” said Zaid Hakak, event coordinator and Community Manager, Google Developers Group (GDG).
