THREE ROBBERIES ROCK PUNE

A gang of dacoits attack upmarket residential societies in Baner, Sangvi and Hinjewadi Suburbs

In a shocking spree of incident, three armed robberies were reported in upmarket residential societies barged in North Region of Pune and looted valuables worth Rs 5 lakh were reported during the wee hours on Thursday. The incident   has left the city police befuddled as upmarket residential societies comprising Chatushrungi, Sangvi and Hinjewadi areas were targeted by the robbers who came in a stolen Maruti Omni car, carried out the robberies and escaped.

According to the police, the first robbery was reported around 2.30 am at Crystal Society in Baner followed by the second one at Arunai Apartments in Sangvi around 3.30 am and the last at Mayakka Classic Building at Punawale in Hinjewadi around 3.45 am.

Crystal Society watchman Sunil Kumar Mishra was caught by one of the robbers and held at a knife point. “It was 2.30 am when the robbers came in car and they all had choppers. I was caught by one of them and somehow I freed myself from his clutches. I jumped over the fencing wall and was chased by them. Luckily, I reached another building and informed the security about the incident. A call was made to the control room narrating about the arrival of robbers,” he added.

According to the Chatushrungi Police, a gang of five robbers barged into the residence of  Sushma Bakul Yagnik (45) at her  flat no 102 located in Crystal Garden Society on Pan Card Club road . The robbers armed with choppers threatened and beat her. She was busy chatting with her friend Dilip when the suspects broke open the door knob and entered the flat. The suspects stole cash, gold ornaments and her mobile estimated to be worth Rs 1,45,500 and escaped.  A visibly shattered Yagnik expressed shock at the incident. Yagnik’s colleague Dr Nitin Dhepe said that an FIR has been lodged with the Chatushrungi Police Station. ” Yagnik is in a state of shock and has been staying on rent at the said premises ,” he added.

The same gang of robbers went the residence of Subol Sale (29), a resident of Arunai Apartments in Vishalnagar area of Sangvi. Sale in complaint stated that he woke up hearing the door breaking noise and found five robbers inside his mother’s room. The suspects decamped with valuables amounting to Rs 1,80,500, he said.

The gang then tried to rip apart a door of another flat located next to the flat of one Shivram Dnyoba Dhawale, a resident of Mayakka Classic Building. Hearing the noise, the women inside Dhawale’s flat raised an alarm. Hearing their cries, the robbers entered his flat and assaulted the family members. They took away cash and valuables worth Rs 1.50 lakh from the flat, Hinjewadi Police said.

Additional Commissioner (North Region) Prakash Mutyal said that the police were working on various leads and probing in the right direction. “The suspects will be arrested soon and teams have been made to detect the case ,” he said.

Senior Police officials led by Pune Police Commissioner Satish Mathur, additional commissioner ( North Region ) Prakash Mutyal , Deputy Commissioner ( Zone III) Rajendra Mane and Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Jayant Naiknaware visited the spot to take a stock of the situation.
