Professionals Condemn Killing of Muslim Techie in Pune

BeyondHeadlines News Desk

Hyderabad’s Professionals Solidarity Forum (PSF) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of young Muslim techie in Pune by the right wing fundamentalist activists allegedly belonging to Hindu Rashtra Sena over a foul Facebook post.

The 28-year-old software professional from Hadapsar was beaten to death by seven persons, who were arrested by Police under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 147 (rioting) of Indian Penal Code. The youth had become target at the hands of extremists for a crime he reportedly not committed. The Hindu Rashtra Sena became angry over alleged uploading of derogatory pictures of Shivaji and late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Facebook. The case was handed over to Crime Branch while security had been beefed up in the area.

Reacting to the growing incidents of communal violence across the country, PSF said it is in an email statement that it is a matter of grave concern for peace loving people.

“The anti social elements are taking law and order in their hands and spoiling the peaceful fabric of Indian society. Pune is a fast developing city and an attractive place for young students and professionals seeking better career and education.

“Even it is an attractive place for the global investors and such heinous crimes against people living there will cause greater harm to the brand image of metro cities like Pune.”

City Convener of PSF Mohammad Hammad expressed the condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased while also urging the professional community to raise their voice against such communal attacks on the innocent lives and to remain vigilant against the rise of rumors and attempts to create communal tension through the social media.

“PSF demands the state government of Maharashtra to give compensation to the families of the murdered techie and the injured one. PSF also urges the state and central governments to bring the perpetrators of the attack to the justice and to ensure the safety of the people from the communal hate mongers,” the statement said.

Pune is a hub of IT and non-IT companies, educational institutions, and hosts thousands of professionals and students belonging to different strata of society. Therefore it becomes important for authorities and public in general to maintain peace and promote amicable culture for harmonious co-existence of various ideologies.
