1.50 lakh Muslims Demand Return of Wakf Lands in Pune Protest

BeyondHeadlines Correspondent

PUNE: More than 1.50 lakh  Muslims including young women carried out ‘Muslim Muk Morcha’ in Pune on Sunday protesting against mob lynching, demanding reservation and return of wakf lands with a  strong and vociferous demand of reservation in education and jobs. The protesters also demanded capital punishment for Hindu zealots  behind mob lynching of Muslims in the name of ‘Gau Raksha‘, and asked for  land annexed from the Waqf Board by the wakf mafia to be returned.

The protestors said that there was huge wakf land worth Rs 20,000 crores in Pune which was under illegal occupation of wakf mafia and said that cases were being lodged against the corporate wakf mafia of Pune which was aided by top companies, retired army and government officials connected with fascist organisations.

The protestors also said that Maharashtra wakf board was allowed to become corrupt by the previous Congress-NCP regime and a number of corrupt politicians from the Muslim communities from the two parties were involved in annexing wakf land and controlling the growth of Muslim community. The  corrupt Muslim politicians and their corrupt bureaucratic nexus hiding in ministry of minority affairs and mantralaya (section officers) were the real enemies of Muslims. The protestors urged the community to look inside their own ranks for the deadly enemies; corrupt Muslim politicians and bureaucrats.

People from all communities- Marathas, Brahmins, Dalits, Matangs, Christians, Sikhs and all other denominations supported the Muslim march in Pune. The organisers in a statement stated that wakf land issued was ignored by corrupt political class as they did not want Muslims to become rich and progress in the society. “They want Muslims to remain poor and hence not making wakf board strong and accountable to law. We will file criminal cases against all the accused so that wakf board becomes accountable to the government in Maharastra” said Qayum Pathan, a lawyer from Kondhwa.

Wakf activists demand that the role of international monetary powers in wakf corruption in the state must be probed and their hidden corruption be exposed.
