Abdur Rahman, a scholar policeman has written a well-researched book, ‘Denial and Deprivation: Indian Muslims after the Sachar Committee and Rangnath Mishra Commission Reports’ which attempts to gauge and analyse the level of denial and deprivation faced by Indian Muslims by evaluating their status after a gap of several years of Sachar Committee (2006) and Rangnath Mishra Commission (2007) Reports.
In an exclusive conversation with BeyondHeadlines, the author Abdur Rahman talked about the key features of his book, “this book presents and discusses the current conditions with respect to outcome indicators such as population, education, economy, poverty, unemployment, consumption level, availability of bank loans, infrastructure and civic facilities and representation in government employment.”
Abdur Rahman, a member of the Indian Police Service (IPS), has been working for more than twenty-one years at different positions in Maharashtra. He Belongs to a small village in Bettiah, West Champaran district of Bihar.
What have been the motivations behind writing this book? To this question, he responded, “as per the Sachar Committee, the Indian Muslim condition is very poor and their social, economic and education condition is lower than the sub-caste and scheduled castes. The condition of Muslims has become worse now and the governments remained reluctant in bringing implementations in respect to the Sachar Committee and Rangnath Mishra Commission reports irrespective of the government of any political party. This concern pushed me to write this book.”
The book is a complete diagnostic report of the Muslims in India where a layman can understand the prevailing conditions in which Muslims are living in the country, their social and economic stature and it also provides a roadmap for the future.
Routledge published this book for countries other than India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. And now Manohar (Publishers and Distributors) has published this book.
The book launch of ‘Denial and Deprivation: Indian Muslims after the Sachar Committee and Rangnath Mishra Commission Reports’ is going to be held at India Islamic Cultural Centre, New Delhi on 8 February 2019. The timing for the same is 4 pm to 7 pm. The book will be launched at the hands of Prof Manoj Kumar Jha, a Member of Parliament. Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood will preside over the function and Mr Shah Faisal, an Ex IAS Officer will be the guest of honour.
