Jamia organises 2nd Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Memorial Lecture

New Delhi: The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, JMI conducted its Second Khan Ghaffar Khan Annual Memorial Lecture. The Lecture was delivered by Professor Zoya Hasan, the professor emeritus, JNU. The theme of her lecture was ‘Democracy, State and Welfare under UPA and NDA: The Regime Effect’. The memorial lecture was chaired by Professor Salil Mishra, the pro-vice-chancellor of the Ambedkar University, Delhi.

During the event, the Centre also unveiled one of its innovative academic activity by releasing a translated document titled ‘Mewat: Vikas Aur Pichhdepan Ka Tulnatmak Adhyyan’ This is a translation of the original report of NITI Aayog document namely “Identifying Backwardness of Mewat Region in Haryana: A Block Level Analysis (2015)”. This translation work is done by Nargis Jahan, PhD Scholar from Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, JMI during her PhD course work.

The publication is carried out without any financial assistance. It is a centre’s initiative to develop good material in various languages by translating various books and reports and make it available for a large number of people who feel comfortable with Hindi and other local languages. The Centre also wishes to create a team of a professional translator with this initiative.
