PM Modi assures Jamia Vice Chancellor of all help in setting up a medical college-cum-hospital

New Delhi: Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi during a meeting with Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar has assured the university of all assistance in setting up a Medical College-cum-Hospital during her tenure.

Apart from briefing the Prime Minister on academic and research activities in the university, Prof. Akhtar also informed him about the centenary celebrations of the university next year. She also sought a special grant-in-aid for the celebrations. The Prime Minister assured the Vice Chancellor that her request would be looked into favourably.

The Prime Minister emphasized on the aims and objectives of education of his government as he spoke highly about the high standard of academic and research activities of the university. He was well aware of improvement in JMI’s national and international rankings continuously over the years.

The Vice Chancellor assured the Prime Minister that she would do her best to ensure that JMI fulfilled the Government’s objectives in providing quality education as well as inculcating the spirit of nation-building amongst the students.

The Prime Minister appreciated Prof. Akhtar for her leadership and her style of functioning by delegating responsibilities to both teaching and non-teaching staff in accordance with their professional abilities and efficiencies.

Prof. Akhtar also presented a bouquet and a memento of the university to the Prime Minister.

It may be mentioned here that Prof. Akhtar had called on the Hon’ble President and the Visitor of the University, Shri Ram Nath Kovind on July 1, 2019 and had apprised him of the steps taken by her for improving academic and research activities in the university.
