New Delhi: Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is organising North Zone Orthodontic PG convention from 27-29th September 2019 where for the first time a panel discussion on “Career Opportunities In India And Abroad” in the discipline will also be held.
The theme of the Convention is “Problem Based Learning” which is a student-centric approach with students taking the lead in decision making. This will empower the learner to integrate theory and skills in developing a viable solution to a clinical scenario.
The convention has been awarded to JMI by the Indian Orthodontic Society President Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Jain. Around 500 delegates are expected to participate in the convention where scientific paper and poster presentation will be done. About 250 student scientific paper and poster presentations from across the country will also be done.
Three pre-convention hands-on clinical courses will be conducted by Dr.OP Kharbanda, Dr. Tulika Tripathi, Dr.Sandhya Maheshwari, Dr. Priyank Rai, Dr. Chetan Jayde, Dr. Jayesh Rahalkar and Dr. Viren Sardana from institutes like Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University and CDER, AIIMS, and DY Patil Pune.
National and International speakers will deliver their talks on various latest and emergent topics of interest on 28th and 29th Sept.2019. A trade exhibition of dental products will also be held on the occasion.
The highlight of this convention is the Panel discussion on “Career Opportunities In India And Abroad”. The Panelist for this discussion are: Dr. OP Kharbanda from CDER AIIMS, Dr. Ashoo Grover from ICMR, Dr. Rajat Mitra from Army Dental Centre, Dr. Sameer Sheikh from UAE, Dr. Badri Thiruvenkatchari from University of Manchester, UK, Dr. Vinay Chugh from AIIMS Jodhpur, Dr. Mohit Mittal from University of Sheffield, UK.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Sridhar Kannan. The students will be highly benefited by this panel discussion, first of its kind in India, as they will come to know about various avenues that can be taken up after their post-graduation in the research, clinical and academic fields.
Prof. Dr. Ragini is the Organizing Chairperson and Prof. Dr. Panchali Batra is the Organizing Secretary of the convention. The diligent team of Department of Orthodontics also includes Dr. Priyanka Kapoor as Scientific Chairperson and Dr. Harneet Kaur and Dr. Anurag Negi as Joint Secretary of the convention.
