Students of Tibetan Children Village in Gopalpur learned photography and movie making in first of its kind workshop by a Delhi based creative group “We Sprawl.”

About thirty students at TCV, Gopalpur, attended the workshop conducted in July by joint initiative of the India-Tibet Coordination Office, New Delhi, TCV School, Gopalpur and We Sprawl.

The students were taught the aesthetics of film making and photography along with hands on training on professional equipments – digital still camera and camcorder. The children went on to click some amazing pictures. They also wrote scripts and did camera work for their documentary which is now at the editing stage.

According to the principal of the school, Mr Phuntsok Tashi, this is like a new career option for them. “Many of the students are doing such workshop for the first time. Many of the children are doing such hands on training with equipments for the first time. So it was exciting. Hope to see many of them join these two professions.”

For many students, it was an enriching experience. “Young aspiring people need such platforms and opportunities. They have recorded some amazing shots. We also learnt a lot from these children. We are very excited about this participation in this media outreach program. We previously have made documentaries on Music and movie Industry of Tibet which was screened across India,” a member of the We Sprawl told BeyondHeadlines. They also expressed their gratitude to the staff of TCV for their support and hoped that some of these students might just make it big as film makers and photographers.

The workshop was conducted by Ms A. Anjum, Ms S. Preet and Mr A. Usmani, who are film makers and photographers. ‘We Sprawl,’ is a Delhi based group of young creative and media professionals who regularly conduct creative workshops.
