New Delhi: Less than a month is left for the assembly elections in West Bengal, but the Congress party and Trinamool Congress (TMC) still don’t have reached an agreement on the seat-sharing issue.

The Congress party is likely to make a decision today on Mamata Banerjee’s offer of 64 seats. Sonia Gandhi is expected to meet Pranab Mukherjee and other senior party leaders to decide on whether to accept the offer or fight the forthcoming election alone.

Tensions rose after Mamata Banerjee made a unilateral announcement of her party seats, despite giving the Congress party today’s deadline to respond. Mamata on March 18 announced her list of 228 candidates leaving 64 seats for the Congress party. She is expected to come out with her party manifesto today.

The Congress party has been asking for 98 winnable seats. In Assam too, Mamata has been creating problems for the Congress party, keeping all 126 for her party.
