In this election season, Rajasthan is hosting a tough political battle between two powerful parties, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP); while other minor players may not have a pivotal role.
While Parishad Congress is led by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, a person with clean and balanced character, BJP is led by Vasundhra Raje Sindhiya, an ambitious lady.
The party that forms the next government in the state will hold the key to the outcome in the parliamentary elections.
The Congress ministers in Gehlot’s government are charged with several cases, and BJP candidates too did not have stain-less reputation.
Gehlot may not be lucky to strike win third time as BJP, which was not far behind in last elections, is aggressively campaigning in the state and innovatively convincing voters using nukkad natak (street plays).
Traditionally, voters’ loyalty swung like a pendulum between Congress and BJP in the past in Rajasthan. But a trend of non-Congress and non-BJP is also in the air, which may benefit parties like BSP, SP, NPP, and Welfare Party of India (WPI).
When voters supported BSP in last elections, the party’s candidate jumped into Congress breaching trust of voters. And the party is also facing corruption charges in UP. NPP’s Kirodi has criminal charges against him to do considerable damage.
In these circumstances, WPI can emerge as a hope for all those voters who have lost faith in corrupt and criminal politician. The party promises to field candidates with clean background and envisions a welfare state.
Although WPI is fighting for just 5 seats in its initial phase, but it has great influence on other seats as well. The party work towards value based politics and its candidates have a history of good social work and clean character. Let’s wait and watch what this elections turns out be for every player!
