A few victims of Muzaffarnagar riots along with a delegation of social activists met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to share their concerns and put forward their demands on January 7, 2013.
The meeting with UP Chief Minister materialized after Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi to Malakpur and Sunethi relief camps near Kairana two days before the meet.
The team put forwarded their demands on various issues related to riots in Muzaffarnagar to UP Chief Minister. Khudai Khidmatgaar national leader Dr. Faraz Badar Rizvi, was part of the delegation, has been active in relief efforts.
Following points were raised:
1. Immediately stop forceful eviction of camps.
2. Immediately stop harassment of camp dwellers and organizers by administration and police.
3. Look into the high handedness of local administration who are deliberately putting roadblocks in rehabilitation process.
4. Start making the lost documents especially voter ID, ration card and marksheets of victims on War Footing.
5. Camps will not be dismantled until the law and order situation becomes normal and victims themselves start feeling safe and secure.
6. Medical rehabilitation of injured.
7. Raise the compensation money and widen its net to include those who have not suffered any direct physical violence but fled their homes out of fear and prevalent communal tension.
8. Make a coordination committee of civil society activists to oversee the process of rehabilitation and relief.
Akhilesh Yadav promised all help and gave assurance that he will look into all the allegations of callous attitude of administration and will make sure that government provides all help in rehabilitation process.
The meeting was attended by Daud Ali of Jagriti Seva Sansthan, Mufti Aslam of Malakpur, Zahid (SDPI) , Maulvi Imdad Ullah, Ayyub Jung, and Haji Sajid Kandhla.
