‘Satara Deputy Commissioner (Sales Tax) booked by Pune Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with disproportionate assets case’

PUNE: The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB), Pune range, have booked the deputy commissioner of sales tax, Satara, and his wife for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The case was registered against Vitthal Krushnaji Pingle (56) and his wife Vijaya Pingle, currently residing at Ushakunj Wanvaswadi in Satara. The offence was registered at the Baramati taluka police station on Tuesday morning.

Sarang Avhad, SP (ACB, Pune Range) told BeyondHeadlines  “The ACB had received orders to probe the details of property acquired by Pingle. We checked details of Pingle’s property acquired between November 20, 1975 to November 30, 2012. Investigations revealed that he had procured Rs 2.12 crore from his known sources of income during this period. Whereas, the expenditure of his and his family in this period was Rs 1.2 crore. So, the remaining amount came out to be Rs 85,59,561. However, Pingle has procured property of Rs 1.3 crore.”

 According to ACB, Pingle acquired disproportionate assets of Rs 8,49,914 in 2005, Rs 9,75,706 in 2006, Rs 10,86,778 in 2007, Rs 17,02,022 in 2011, Rs 52,34,412 in 2012. ACB claimed that his wife Vijaya supported him in acquiring these disproportionate assets.

Pingle and his wife Vijaya hav been charged under section 109 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Assistant commissioner of police (ACB) J D Kalaskar is further investigating the case.
