AHMEDNAGAR : Chief of Integrated Staff Committee (CISC), HQ Integrated Defence Staff  Lt. Gen. Anil Chait chaired the Biennial  Armoured Corps Conference  which was held on 13-14 March 2014 at the Armoured Corps Centre & School at, Ahmednagar.

The two day conference, which began on Thursday, focused on important operational as well as training matters.  This included force modernization, operational readiness, combat training and human resource development, apart from the way ahead for the Armoured Corps in the  21st century.  The conference provided an excellent opportunity for senior officers of the Armoured Corps to discuss and brainstorm many issues related to this very potent strike arm of the Indian Army, with the Regimental Commanders.

Giving an overview of the evolving security situation in our neighbourhood, CISC highlighted the requirement of continued sustained effort towards achieving envisaged and assigned operational tasks. The Director General Mechanised Forces touched upon issues related capacity building and modernization, keeping in mind the wide spectrum of roles that are likely be entrusted to Armoured Corps over the next 15 to 20 years, in all types of terrains obtained in our Nation.

Deliberations also covered the requirement of an integrated approach towards indigenous development of future weapon systems for the Indian Armoured Corps.  Special emphasis was laid during the discussions on important aspects of human resource development and welfare for troops. The battle readiness of the Indian Armoured Corps, which would spearhead any decisive operations on future battlefields, was also discussed. It was observed with great pride that the Indian Armoured Corps is operationally ready to give a befitting account of itself in any future battlefield environment.
